Arrival Procedure
Breakfast is served at 7:40 AM.
School begins promptly at 8:00 AM.
Students arriving after 8:00 AM will be marked late.
All students enter the cafeteria through the entrance on Union Hall Street.
Parents must drop their students at the gate. Parents are not allowed beyond the gate.
Students may get breakfast and sit at their class’ assigned table. Book bags should remain on their backs, so that the environment remains safe for all students.
All students are expected to remain seated and talk quietly with their friends.
Paraprofessionals/School Aides/Administration will supervise students in the cafeteria until 8:00 AM. It is all the adults’ responsibilities to ensure that the cafeteria is orderly.
Teachers will pick up students from the cafeteria promptly at 8:00 AM.
Teachers begin moving students to their classes using their designated stairway.

Late Arrivals Procedure
*Please understand that your students’ safety is our top priority. Please adhere to the following procedure so that we can ensure all students are safe.
Dismissal for all students is promptly at 2:15 PM.
All students must be picked up by 2:20 PM. .
Parents enter the schoolyard using the entrance on Union Hall Street.
Parents should wait for their child(ren) on the inner oval of the track. This will allow for classes to line up in their line spots and students to be dismissed quickly..
Teachers should have students remain on two lines, either standing or sitting during dismissal.
We ask all parents to please communicate with their child’s teacher when picking up their child(ren). It is important that all teachers see who each child is going with.
Once you have picked up your child, we ask that your child remain close to you and you exit the schoolyard immediately. Please do not allow your child(ren) to run alone to the schoolyard.
Please refrain from discussing your child’s progress at pick up. Should you need to have a meeting with the teacher, the teacher will schedule an appointment with you. Teachers must supervise students during dismissal.
Teachers should remain with all students until 2:20 PM.
Students who walk should not be dismissed until 2:20 PM.
Students that are walking must have a walker permission slip on file with their teacher.
It is the responsibility of ALL staff members to ensure that families adhere to the dismissal guidelines outlined above.

Late Dismissal Procedure
*We understand that emergencies arise. In the event that you can not pick up your child(ren) at 2:20 PM, we ask that you call the office and inform Ms. Allen or one of the school aides. With this being said, picking up your child after 2:20 PM should not become an everyday occurrence.
Students remaining at 2:20 PM, should be brought by their teacher to the blue tables.
Parents arriving after 2:20 PM must walk to the blue tables to sign out their child(ren).
Students must remain seated at all times at the blue tables.
At 2:40 PM, any students remaining will be brought to JCMS’ main office on the 4th floor.
Parents must then enter through the main entrance, sign in at security and use the middle stairs to arrive at JCMS’ main office on the 4th floor. .
Parents must sign out their child(ren).

Early Pick Up Procedure
Early pick-up may only be requested if an emergency arises.
All early pick-up requests must be in writing via email/text to our Parent Coordinator, Victoria Gomez (929) 692-4283 VGomez15@schools.nyc.gov by 1:00 PM.
Verbal requests can not be honored, in order to ensure students’ safety.
Early pick up must be COMPLETED by 1:30 PM. Meaning, you must arrive PRIOR to 1:30 in order for us to safely dismiss your child.
Any families requesting early pick up and do not arrive by 1:30 PM, will need to wait for regular dismissal in the schoolyard at 2:20 PM.
Pick-up person must enter through the main lobby, present ID, and sign in. School safety will then call our main office.
Office staff will check your child’s blue card to ensure the pick-up person is listed.
A member of our staff will pick up your child(ren) from class.
A member of our staff will escort you to and from our Main Office Room 424. You then must sign your child out.
Please be advised that during the hours of 11:00-1:00 PM there will be an extended wait time due to the fact that the majority of staff are supervising students during lunch.
